Acratopège
Francis Baudevin (1964, Bulle) appropriates the graphic elements of commercial packaging around which brands build a visual identity. For this intervention at MAMCO the artist infiltrated the museum with an exhibition slipped beneath other works, under the title Acratopège, a term usually applied to mineral water meaning that, in the absence of any particular qualities, it is entirely safe to drink. At MAMCO the artist created four different environments for four different thematic displays, referencing both local and international cultural production, in order to reframe the works displayed, and question the context of the museum and our understanding of visual language.
