Listening to Walls: Architecture, Art, and Transmission
Jeanne Tara was born in 1994 in Ambilly. She lives and works in Geneva.
After training in classical and contemporary dance, she turned to the visual arts, studying at the Haute École d’Art et de Design de Genève and later at the École de Recherche Graphique, where she obtained a Master’s degree in Art Practices.
A multidisciplinary artist working with sculpture, painting, video and installation, she develops a sensitive approach rooted in questions of gesture and transmission, combining these different media within her practice.
“The guiding thread of my work is a research into architecture as a lens through which to observe the world,” she explains.
She explores this idea in particular through questions of ornamentation—how ornament has functioned as a language within architecture, and how “we speculate about a culture through ruins or traces.”
This conversation will introduce the artist’s approach and the forms that emerge from it, while situating some of the conceptual issues at stake.
